Mood:  don't ask

Heard nothing from Piker Press.  So, I have submitted my short story to Jaded Silence Press.  I did submit a poem to Piker Press; so we'll see from there.  I am up to about 8100 on my NaNoWriMo, with the hope of making it to the 10k mark by the end of the month.  My goal is realistic for this year, considering everything that has been going on.  Crazy is an understatement.  I've joined Writers Cafe and have been receiving pretty good response on my writings.  I like this site, and would highly recommend for anyone who likes to write.

Now Playing: Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban soundtrax

I've decided to sign up for the NaNoWriMo.  Never done it; don't believe I will even get near the 50k mark, but hey, it'll be fun to at least try!  I have a story idea in mind, and whatever I do get down with NaNoWriMo, I can finish and edit and eventually have published on Lulu.  So, check it out, come November 1st.  My username will be AngelEyesGolden.

Finally!
Mood:  happy

I've finally submitted my short story!  It took me from March till today to complete the story and edit it.  Of course, with things being crazy at work, it took alot of the energy from me to try and finish it sooner.  I hope to hear from the editor in the next few days on whether or not the story would be accepted.  I'll update as soon as I know.

Cheers...

Onward
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: Alice in Chains Unplugged
I've decided to finish one short story that I started back in March of this year; it is called Shadow of Death.  I enjoyed writing this one especially the ending.  I have had at least four people read it and give me thier input on it so now all I have left to do is polish it up  and it'll be ready to be submitted.  This short story began as just a way to get some thing "published" somewhere and has grown into something much bigger.  I've decided that this will be one in a series of short stories that will be a collection I'll compile into my very first book.  I'm excited and nervous.  I'm nervous in that I hope to be able to complete this and that it will be a good first piece of work.  I don't want to be just another writer out there trying to make it big; no, I'd rather have a small following of faithful readers who will enjoy reading my stories/books. I want to be able to enjoy my writing and not write to make a living.  My goal for this short story is to submit it by October for online publication.  Stay tuned!

Blog number two-August 11th, 2007
Mood:  irritated
This is my second blog and I've yet to produced a finished project.  I have so many story ideas, several summaries written, a few actually started, and one short story that need more work.  I'm feeling quite frustrated at the moment.  I want to get somewhere, get my writing career started but with so many interruptions and no time to write I feel I am going nowhere.  Now, I need to be realistic here and put things into perspective in that I do work out full time and have a very active four year old and a husband who is a teacher who monopolizes our only computer; well, you get the idea.  I've been wanting a  computer of my own but with our current finance woes it is not possible.  I guess what is also frustrating me is that I have a coworker who is also a writer and have already published online at least two books and several short stories.  I am trying not to be jealous of her and it would not be fair to do be.  We are two different individuals with varied backgrounds and circumstances.  No, I need to be content with who I am and with what I do have.  If I can focus on finishing one short story and getting that submitted I am at least heading in the right direction.

Blog Number one-July 29th, 2007
Mood:  chillin'

This is my first blog entry with Angelfire.  My name is Carrie and I live in the eastern part of NC.  I am originally from upstate NY, more specifically the Adirondacks.  So, I am a mountain girl not a city girl, even though that is where I spend most of my waking hours in(aka work).  I've been married going on 8 years now and have a 4 year old son.  Since becoming a mother I've struggled with trying to keep some sense of balance in my life, namely with writing.  Writing is my passion; something I've discovered at the age of eleven and been doing ever since.  Recently I've been wanting to take it to the next level; hence, I've created an account with Angelfire with the goal of recording my failures and successes as a wrtier who desire to become a successful published writer.  I'd like to share my journey with whomever is interested and I am open to whatever advice, comment, etc. you would like to share with me.

Some of my challenges, other than time, that I constantly wrestle with are the fact I have some disabilites.  I have retinitis pigmentosa,  more specifically Ushers Syndrome Type II, in that not only I have gradual vision loss (peripheral) I am also partially deaf.  With being partially deaf I have struggled with grammar of which you may tell as you read my blogs and stories.  I am open for any corrections in my stories in my pursuit to further grasp and master the concepts of grammar.  I have no lack of imagination and I believe, as many have encouraged me, that I can be a successful writer.

I plan to post a new blog periodically, accounting my daily or weekly writing journey and hope to begin posting short stores as well as chapter for a  novel I have in mind (once I master this site).  I believe that the internet can be a great tool to use as a growing writer.

Hope to see you again soon!
